When CBS broadcaster Amanda Balionis founded her non-profit, Puppies and Golf in 2020, she started it with a mission to raise awareness and spread information about dog adoption. Over the years, she has also financially helped animal shelters and non-profit organizations.

Balionis had spoken to Golf Digest in 2020 about her mission. She said:

"Our mission is to bring awareness and education to adoption over buying a dog from a breeder. It’s also to financially support shelters that are doing the hard work in making sure these dogs find a home and organizations that are ensuring that people’s lives are being enhanced with these dog-to-human connections."

Through Puppies and Golf, the reporter ran massive fundraising initiatives to support relief efforts after Hurricane Helene. The organization had partnered up with Intown Golf Club for in-kind donations at the club's Charlotte and Atlanta outlets. Along with the list of requirements, Balionis had even shared an Amazon Wish List made by the beneficiary rescue shelters and non-profits. Puppies and Golf has managed to raise more than $28k in donations.
