Amanda Balionis recently took part in a promotion for bourbon brand Elijah Craig as part of Old Fashioned Week. Balionis posted the promotional video on October 18th on her personal Instagram account, which has more than 321,000 followers.
According to the post, Elijah Craig is using Old Fashioned Week to raise funds to support workers in the hospitality industry. Balionis accompanied the post with the following text:
"Did you know it’s Old Fashioned Week? It’s a thing and it’s running nationwide in bar and restaurants near you! Through this celebratory week of the best cocktail, @elijahcraig has donated over $400,000 to deserving nonprofits benefiting the hospitality industry. So grab a friend, order a cocktail (or 2) and support a great cause!"
The promotional video features Amanda Balionis enjoying an Old Fashioned cocktail, what she calls "one of my favourites". The cocktail is made with Elijah Craig Toasted Rye mixed with some chocolate bitters and orange bitters.
"The perfect flavors for fall," Balionis said.
Old Fashioned Week is an initiative by the Elijah Craig brand to celebrate the original whiskey cocktail. This is the fifth edition of the event and takes place from 11 to 20 October across the United States.
Elijah Craig will donate $1 for every Old Fashioned cocktail sold during the week, up to $100,000. Proceeds will go to the Southern Smoke Foundation, which supports workers in the food and beverage industry.
About the Old Fashioned Week, Max Stefka, Group Product Director of Elijah Craig, said the following (via PR Newswire):
"Elijah Craig is proud to give back to the hospitality community by supporting our friends at the Southern Smoke Foundation through our fifth annual Old Fashioned Week. Visiting a participating bar for a balanced Old Fashioned helps put dollars directly into the pockets of food and beverage workers when they need it most."
Amanda Balionis, Elijah Craig and golf
Elijah Craig is one of the oldest and most respected bourbon brands in the world. It has been produced at the Heaven Hills Distillery in Kentucky since 1789.
The brand is closely associated with golf. In fact, its sponsorship catalogue includes PGA Tour star Max Homa and Amanda Balionis, one of the sport's most renowned on-course reporters.
Both Balionis and Homa are regular participants in Elijah Craig's promotional activities. The brand has also worked with other golf-related personalities such as Kyra Dixon and Hally Lead.
But Elijah Craig's work with golf goes much further. The brand has launched a cocktail with a nod to the sport, called Birdie Bramble. It has also launched a commemorative bottle for the 2024 PGA Championship and has already begun promoting the Ryder Cup, which will be played at Bethpage Black in New York in September 2025.
