Fans on social media underplayed Thomas Pieters's rare hole out from behind the scoreboard at the LIV Golf Chicago. The event began on Friday, September 13, and will conclude on Sunday, September 15, at Bolingbrook Golf Club in Bolingbrook, Illinois.

The Belgian golfer carded 1-under 69 in the first round. On the par-5 14th, Pieters notched an eagle from behind the scoreboard. He was 15 yards from the hole after his second shot. LIV Golf shared the video of the moment on X and wrote:

"This is insane… just holed out for eagle from behind the scoreboard."

However, fans were not impressed as they joked that there were no spectators to see him making the shot.

"And no one there to see him do it," a fan wrote.
"That's amazing, in front of about 4 fans. These guys must be so excited to play in front of such huge crowds," another fan commented.

Few fans criticized the casual nature of the Pieters' attire, calling him unprofessional:

"Thomas Pieters, former University of Illinois NCAA Individual Champion, shirt untucked, shorts, unshaven. Quite the professional," one fan wrote.

Meanwhile, a few fans did appreciate the stroke.

"What a shot!!!!," a fan jotted.

Pieters started the round on the ninth hole. He scored five consecutive pars before scoring the eagle on the 14th hole. He then scored five more consecutive pars before faltering on par-4 second where he bogeyed. He rebounded quickly with a birdie on par-5 third. The 32-year-old made another bogey on par-4 fifth and finished the round with three straight pars.

Thomas Pieters is currently tied for 11th with Peter Uihlein, Sergio Garcia, Louis Oosthuizen, Harold Varner III, Jon Rahm, Martin Kaymer, and Abraham Ancer. Brooks Koeopka has taken a hefty lead going into the second round at Bolingbrook Golf Club. He scored 8-under 62 in the first round and is four shots ahead of Paul Casey in the second place.

Joaquin Niemann is tied for fourth with -2. Both Niemann and Rahm are competing for the year's Individual championship. The winner of LIV Golf Chicago will take home $4 million while the runner-up will receive $2.25 million.
