Billy Horschel made his debut at Tiger Woods' TGL series on January 22, playing for the Atlanta Drive Golf Club against the New York Golf Club. His team had an amazing start to the season, winning the game 4-0.

It was a head-to-head competition, with Atlanta Drive winning four of the 15 holes in the game. Following the event, Horschel made a sarcastic comment about the TGL producers. He said (via Nuclr Golf):

“Obviously the last two weeks have been blow out and this one isn’t. Jeff, the producer has asked us nicely to keep it close and we’re trying to accommodate him….”

However, the comment ignited criticism from the fans, and later Horschel took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to clear his point. He revealed that it was a joke, writing:

"Anyone ever heard of sarcasm or a joke! 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️. Sorry if I suck at it. 😂😂.I think we (both teams) clearly showed that we wanted to win every hole possible."

It was the third matchup of the TGL series. In the first game on January 7, The Bay Golf Club defeated New York Golf Club 9-2, and then Los Angeles Golf Club won against Jupiter Links in Week 2 by 12-1.

Billy Horschel reflects on the competitive environment of TGL

TGL is an entertainment-focused, limited-hole golf series that takes place on a simulator. Although it is designed for entertainment, Billy Horschel revealed the competitive nature of the players in the game.

Speaking about the series during the post-game press conference on January 22, Horschel said (via ASAP Sports):

"Every player in TGL is a competitive mother-- and that's they've done their entire career. They've won; they don't want to lose. Even though this is a fun atmosphere, they want to win, and at the end of the day competition is going to come out and you saw it tonight. You can still be competitive and still be fun in this scenario, and I think we did a perfect job of that."

The Atlanta Drive Golf Club started the game by taking an early lead, winning the first hole. However, the next few holes resulted in a draw before Atlanta won the sixth hole in the triples format.

Meanwhile, in the singles on Hole 10, Justin Thomas won against Cameron Young, and next, Billy Horschel added another point to his team's score by winning Hole 11 in a one-on-one singles match against Matt Fitzpatrick.

The TGL matches are played over 15 holes, with the first nine holes played in the triples format and the remaining six in singles. Atlanta Drive Golf Club won two holes in the singles and two in the triples format to secure the victory in their debut game in the TGL. Meanwhile, the New York Golf Club lost their second game of the season.

Next, Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Golf Links Club will play against Rory McIlroy’s Boston Common on Monday, January 27, in the fourth week of the TGL.
