Fans on social media have reacted to Rory McIlroy teasing the TGL setup ahead of the start of the tech-infused golf series. The Northern Irish golfer partnered with legendary golfer Tiger Woods to create this innovative series, featuring the 24 PGA Tour players.

With the series just around the corner, Rory McIlroy recently took some golf swings at Sofi Center, the venue for the new golf series. He practiced a few shots on the screen.

Nuclr Golf shared a video of McIlroy swinging at Sofi Center on its X (formerly Twitter) account, writing:

"Rory McIlroy steps inside the SoFi Center and takes swings into the massive screen as the TGL launch approaches."

Fans quickly jumped into the comments section to criticize the series, with some calling it a "bad investment."

"Such a bad investment. This thing will fail," a fan wrote.

When will Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods' TGL start?

The first season of TGL is scheduled to begin on January 7, 2025. The series will feature 15 regular matches, followed by semifinals and a finale. The inaugural match will take place between the New York Golf Club and The Bay Golf Club.

The matches of the series will take place every Monday and Tuesday night. The final of the series is scheduled for March 24, 2025.

TGL features a unique and innovative format, consisting of only 15 holes. Players compete in a 3v3 match in the first nine holes, while the remaining holes feature a one-on-one format.

The series includes six teams, each comprising four players. Rory McIlroy will play for the Boston Common Golf Club, while Tiger Woods will play for the Jupiter Links Golf Club.
