The 2024 LIV Golf is heading towards the business end of its fourth season. The final individual event will begin on September 13th at the Bolingbrook Golf Club, Chicago, while the final team event begins a week later at Maridoe Golf Club, Dallas.
LIV is seemingly determined to end the season on a high note as they recently announced that country singer Bailey Zimmerman and the legendary DJ Martin Garrix will perform at the LIV Golf Team Championship event in Dallas.
The American singer will perform on Saturday while the Dutch DJ will perform on Sunday to conclude the 2024 LIV season.
The PIF-backed golf league has always tried to get various celebrities to perform at events and diversify the on-course viewing experience. Fans get to witness golf from some of the best golfers in the world and, at the same time, enjoy the concerts and performances of various artists.
Who is leading the LIV Golf individual championship?
The Chilean golfer Joaquin Niemann is leading the LIV Golf individual championship going into the final stages of the season. Niemann has registered two victories and eight top-10 finishes in eleven events.
He registered two wins from his first three starts this season and consistently remained in the top 10 to maintain his lead in the season-long individual championship.
Niemann has a chance to seal off the individual championship this week at Greenbrier. The 25-year-old golfer has 189.40 points while the second-placed golfer, Jon Rahm, has 165.17 points. If Niemann registers a win this week at The Old White Golf Course, he will seal the individual championship before the final event in Chicago.
To his advantage, Niemann has good memories of this course as he registered his first professional win outside of Chile on this golf course.
"I have great memories here. Hopefully, we can add another memory," Niemann said on Tuesday before heading out to practice (via LIV Golf).
"There are a lot of guys trying to get the No. 1 spot. That’s the kind of competition we’re looking for. But it’s also a challenge for me, extra motivation to keep working hard, keep trying to do my best, and to fight for every shot out there because, at the end of the season, every shot counts. I’m trying to do everything I can and wrap up the season the right way," Niemann concluded.
Mathematically, only Niemann, Rahm, Tyrell Hatton, Sergio Garcia, Louis Oosthuizen, and Cameron Smith can win the individual championship.
This list will be reduced, or Joaquin Niemann could end this debate entirely after this week, depending on how the leaderboard shapes up at the LIV Golf Greenbrier.
