Adam Sandler recently announced the probable release date of Happy Gilmore 2 for July 2025. He also released the first trailer for the film, produced by Netflix. The new movie seemed to have stimulated the golfer in the actor, as he was recently seen playing golf on social media.

The X account NUCLR Golf uploaded Sandler's video practicing his swing on the practice range.

Fans have responded to these videos, mostly by making jokes about the quality of Sandler's swing. One X user posted the following:

"Barkleyesque."

Another user said the following:

"Better in the movie"

Let's take a look at some other reactions:

"Shooter might have a shot at the rematch," one fan posted.
"Borderline horrendous?," another user said.
"And somehow he’ll still win the club championship," another user wrote.
"He should stick with the “happy Gilmore” swing," another fan posted.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Adam Sandler said in early December that the production is planning to release Happy Gilmore 2 in July 2025. He did not mention the exact date, although he assured that it would not be July 4.

On Christmas Day, Sandler himself posted the first trailer of Happy Gilmore 2 on social networks.

Is the Happy Gilmore star a golf fan in real life?

Adam Sandler's name has been associated with golf culture since he starred in Happy Gilmore nearly 30 years ago. But it wasn't until much later that the actor really got involved in the game.

In a 2022 interview with The Dan Patrick Show, Sandler said that by that time, he often played the game, via Brobible:

"I’m into golf now, but when I go, I have like maybe five good holes in a row. Then it goes bad, then it comes back."

Sandler also revealed that his iconic character follows him to the golf course, as every time he goes golfing, people insist that he swing with Gilmore's special style.

Although he was not as involved in golf when he was younger as he is now, Sandler has occasionally participated in golf events. Such was the case at the 2006 Sony Open in Hawaii Pro-Am event.

The upcoming film will feature many current and past golf stars, including Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, Corey Pavin, Jordan Spieth, Xander Schauffele, Bryson DeChambeau, Rickie Fowler and Keegan Bradley.

Several of the stars from the first film will also return. Sandler (Gilmore) and McDonald (McGavin) will be joined by Julie Bowen (Victoria Venit), Ben Stiller (Hal) and others.
