Golf legend Annika Sorenstam competed in the 2024 PNC Championship teaming up with her son, Will McGee. Sorenstam recently shared a story about a hilarious interaction with Will in the middle of the competition.

Sorenstam shared the story during a SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio show with her husband, Mike McGee. According to the story, Will was surprised by the quality of his mother's putting, to which Sorenstam responded by referencing her brilliant golfing history.

Here is how Sorenstam and McGee told the story [0:02 and up]:

Annika Sorenstam [A.S.]: "I was making putts, and he [Will] was almost a little bit in shock and he was looking at me and said 'what are you doing, Mommy?'..."
Mike McGee: "... He said, 'Mom, when have you ever putted like this?', after you [referring to Sorenstam] made a nice putt on number six on the first day, and you didn't miss a bit and said 'I've putted like this before you where born!'" [laughs]
A.S.: "I did! That's how I putted! It was so funny because we were playing with Steve Stricker and his daughter Izzy, and he told the story, you know, the first time we played, it was at the JC Penny Classic I believe, and he was actually... he came in my defense and said 'yes, I remember she putted like that'".

Sorenstam played golf professionally between 1992 and 2008, although she has made sporadic appearances in professional events since then. During her career, she won 97 tournaments, including 72 on the LPGA Tour (10 major championships).

Among her many career highlights, she completed the Grand Slam, winning at least once in each of the four majors that existed during her playing days. She has been inducted into the LPGA Hall of Fame and the World Golf Hall of Fame.

Annika Sorenstam became the first female professional to be invited to the PNC Championship. That happened in 2019, when Sorenstam teamed up with her father and finished tied for 19th.

Sorenstam has returned to the PNC Championship every season since, with the exception of 2021. She played with her father again in 2020 (they tied for 17th), and her son Will has been her regular teammate since 2022.

In their first appearance as a team, Sorenstam and Will finished tied for 17th at 15-under, 11 strokes behind winners Vijay Singh and his son Qass. A year later, Team Sorenstam repeated the 15-under score, but improved to T11.

The reverse happened in 2024. Sorenstam and her son tied for 11th again but improved their score to 19 under.
