Tiger Woods is officially on the cover of PGA Tour 2K25. The Legend Edition of the game will star one of the most decorated athletes of all time. Woods has been featured on many video game covers before. Even as he enters the twilight of his career, he's worth showcasing on the cover art.
Take Two, the parent company of 2K Sports, is worth $31.37 billion per Forbes. 2K Sports announced today that Woods would grace the cover of the game's special edition. It's something they've done with other games as well.
NBA 2K has had alternate covers in the last few years, and they've had Legend Editions as well. Dwyane Wade was on NBA 2K20's Legend Edition cover. Kobe Bryant manned the 2K21 Legend cover. Dirk Nowitzki and Michael Jordan have also been featured.
2K knows the impact that these historic figures had on the game, and they're taking advantage of that with the alternate cover art. Ironically, Woods was the cover athlete for the normal edition of PGA Tour 2K23.
The standard edition of the PGA Tour game features three golfers on the cover, including Woods. He's joined by Max Homa and Matt Fitzpatrick. Both covers have the same art style that replicates a painting.
More editions may come out in the future before the release date, which is expected in Q4 of 2025.
Tiger Woods predicted to make big change for TGL
TGL, which is the tech-based league that Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy dreamt up, launched last week. The second-ever match for the league is tomorrow night in the SoFi Center.
Tiger Woods and company have a stacked roster that includes Max Homa, Tom Kim, Viktor Hovland and Shane Lowry. They may not stop there, though. A new report suggests that TGL could be interested in bringing in LIV Golf players.
So far, they have none, but there hasn't been a stated ban or prohibition. They just weren't invited. That could change according to co-founder of TMRW Sports Mike McCarley.
He said via Irish Star:
"I know it's interesting and I know everyone's talking about it and I know it's fun to kind of pontificate on what could or could not be, but we have a job to do. We've got to deliver a really compelling product."
When specifically asked about LIV players, he said:
"Oh yeah. Yes, absolutely [LIV players could be signed]... But the reality is, we have a good business in what we have right now."
That could open the door for Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton or Bryson DeChambeau. Rahm was initially approached, but he turned it down for scheduling issues. It also came just before he confirmed his move to LIV Golf, so that may have played a role.
