Billy Horschel prepares for ‘big things’ with Tiger Woods & Rory McIlroy ahead of TGL

US golfer Billy Horschel took to social media to talk about the much-awaited TGL that is all set to start in January next year. The innovative league created by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy has been in the pipeline for years.

In the video originally shared by TGL's official X handle, Billy Horschel was seen standing in the middle of the custom-built SoFi Center and sharing his thoughts on the tech-infused arena. The venue for the league will be a specially constructed arena at the Palm Beach State College in Florida. Horschel was visibly emotional as he spoke about golf getting a similar arena as basketball. The 37-year-old reshared the post, saying, "Can't wait!" with a smiling emoji.

TGL will feature a six-team format and the indoor arena is almost as big as a football field. The league will bring about a technological revolution in sports as it blends technology with the thrill of live-action golf. The players will tee off from real grass tee boxes to hit customised, virtual holes that will be projected onto a massive 3,000 feet screen. Reportedly, it will be 20 times bigger than an average golf simulation screen.

After reaching within 50 yards, the teams will then begin playing actual holes inside the TGL Greenzone. The turntable in the arena that will keep on changing the holes and bunkers to bring out varied shot angles and approaches, will make the live-action holes challenging for the teams. In the video of Billy Horschel watching the arena, he was seen marvelling as the arena started rotating around him.

The TGL will broadcast the action live with all the golfers given mics all the time and playing on a 40-second clock. The league will begin on Tuesday, January 7th, 2024 and will be aired at primetime on ESPN and ESPN+ in the US.
