Billy Horschel lost the Open Championship title to Xander Schauffele by two strokes. Horschel was leading the Open Championship tournament after round three with 4-under and Schauffele’s score was 3-under at that point.

But after Sunday's game, things turned in Xander Schauffele's favor, and Horschel couldn't bank the $3.1 million paycheck. On Sunday, the latter dropped six birdies and three bogeys to settle his score at 68 whereas Schauffele carded six birdies and no bogeys on the same day.

Eventually, Schauffele won with 9-under while Horschel finished with a score of 7-under. Although Horschel lost the game, he sent a classy message via X.com. On July 23, he shared a video thanking his fans and followers for all the support.

In the clip, he also explained how the Open Championship week was memorable but disappointing at the same time after being so close to winning it. Brandel Chamblee reshared this video and also carried a caption.

“Great playing Billy. All class,” Chamblee wrote.

This is the closest that Horschel has reached to winning the Open Championship. He had to settle for a second position along with Justin Rose after the Major.
