Billy Horschel shared a photo of himself sporting Georgia Tech colors on his X account on Tuesday, August 27. Horschel donned Tech gold, white, and blue to celebrate the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets' victory over the Florida State Seminoles in the last Saturday's football game.

A person named "Curtis" (@DJCURTI5) commented on Horschel's post, questioning what colors he wore for "0 majors." Horschel promptly replied to the comment.

"I think comparing golf games and wins is the wrong path for you to go down. But hey, you do you," Horschel wrote.

The Yellow Jackets beat the Seminoles 24-21 in the first game of the college football season.

Horschel has yet to win a major championship. His best career finish in a major tournament was a tie for second at the 2024 Open Championship two weeks ago. That result at Royal Troon was only his third top-10 finish in a major championship. Notably, he has played in 43 majors, making the cut on 29 occasions.

The 37-year-old's professional career has spanned from 2009 to the present, with 10 wins to his name, including eight on the PGA Tour.

His major victories include the 2014 BMW Championship and the 2014 TOUR Championship in consecutive weeks to win the FedEx Cup that year. He also won the 2022 Memorial Tournament. His most recent victory came last April at the Corales Punta Cana Championship.

Will Billy Horschel play in the 2024 TOUR Championship?

Billy Horschel finished the 2024 BMW Championship in a tie for 22nd place, earning 156 FedEx Cup points. This performance lifted him to 1,838 points and the 21st position on the standings.

As such, he has qualified for the TOUR Championship for the 7th time in his career. Horschel had not played at the East Lake Golf Club since 2022, when he tied for 21st. His best finishes at the TOUR Championship are a win in 2014 and a tie for second place in 2018. He has two other top-10 finishes (2013, 2021).

His top-30 ranking ensures his participation in all the premier events of the 2025 season, including three of the four major championships: the Masters Tournament, the US Open, and the Open Championship.

His ascent to the top 30 of the FedEx Cup rankings was marked by a remarkable season. He participated in 22 tournaments, making 16 cuts and securing seven top-10 finishes. His impressive performance included a victory at the Corales Punta Cana Championship and a runner-up finish at the Open Championship.

His performance in the majors was particularly impressive. He competed in three majors, making the cut in each (he did not participate in the Masters). His most notable finishes included a T2 at the Open Championship at Royal Troon and a T8 at the PGA Championship. He also finished T41 at the US Open at Pinehurst.
