Blades Brown has decided to turn pro and skip college golf. He competed in the US Junior Amateur and US Amateur and became only the third golfer, along with Tiger Woods and Bobby Clampett, to win medals at both events.

He also became the youngest US amateur medalist in 2023, breaking the 103-year-old record set by the legendary golfer Bobby Jones. Flushing It, a prominent golf fan account on X (formerly Twitter), shared this achievement of Blades Brown and wrote:

"17-year-old, Blades Brown joined Tiger Woods earlier this year as the 3rd player ever to be medalist/co-medalist at the US Jr and US Am. Last year he beat Bobby Jones’ record as the youngest ever US Am co-medalist and earlier this year came T26 on his PGA Tour debut. Serious player and now he’s announced he’s turning pro. Can’t wait to see how he gets on in the pros!"

The 17-year-old golfer has decided to take a leap and become a pro without giving college golf a try. He revealed this decision through an Instagram post and said he had taken this decision after weighing all the options and believes turning pro is the best thing for him.

"This is not a decision that I take lightly, and I have spent the past months weighing all possible options before deciding on what I know is best for me. While I am proud of the accomplishments of my amateur career, I am focused on the future and getting off to a strong start in my professional career. I am delighted to make my professional debut @theamexgolf, in La Quinta January 16-19. I can’t wait to see you all there!"

Brown will now make his debut as a pro golfer on the PGA Tour in January 2025 at the American Express. Previously, he competed in one PGA Tour event as an amateur earlier this year at the Myrtle Beach Classic and finished T26 for the event.

Blades Brown met his hero Tiger Woods at the 76th US Junior Amateur Championship. He recounted his experience in an Instagram post, mentioning that it was surreal and that he did not know what to say.

"It was so surreal. I'd never seen Tiger in person. It was the coolest thing. It was like I was starstruck. I'm looking at Tiger Woods, and I'm like, 'I don't know what this to say'," Blades revealed.

That week, Brown finished T17 at the US Junior Amateur Championship, carding 66 and 68, respectively. He improved upon this performance a month later, finishing runner-up at the Junior Players Championship with scores of 71, 73, and 66 over 54 holes, and is all set to take on the big boys on the PGA Tour.
