Brooks Koepka and his wife Jena Sims welcomed their first child Crew to the world on July 27, 2023. This was about a year after they got married. Exactly 11 months later to the day, their son almost took his first steps.

Sims shared a snap to her Instagram story where her young child, with a hand on the wall for support, was testing out his legs and considering taking a step.

She captioned it:

"This close to taking first steps."

Walking is a process for young children. It's likely that Koepka and Sims' child has tested the waters before, trying and failing to take a step. As he continues to get older and more confident, he will take a step. Based on the latest from Sims' Instagram, that will likely be sooner rather than later.

This is also a major milestone for this baby in particular. When Crew was born in 2023, he had to spend extra time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit while his parents were not in the hospital. Just 11 months later, he's almost walking.

At the time, Sims shared that Crew had arrived six weeks before his due date and had to be delivered by C-section. She'd planned to have a baby shower just a couple of days later on July 29, but Crew was already born by that time.

Jena Sims was late to her husband's tee time last time out. Following the US Open, LIV Golf players went back to their tour and had an event in Nashville. Brooks Koepka teed off that Friday morning, but his wife missed it.

She posted a snap to her story that has since expired detailing the absence, but she was on her way to the event. By the time she arrived, he was roughly halfway through the first round.

However, she didn't miss much. At that time he was well down the leaderboard at two over par. Things didn't get much better for him the rest of the time. The 2023 PGA Championship winner shot one under par for the weekend, good enough to finish tied for 42nd out of 54 players.

Koepka hasn't played as well of late. He was in top form last season, winning the PGA and tying for second at the Masters. In 2024, he was nine over at the Masters, tied for 26th at the PGA Championship, and the same (six over par) at the US Open.

Unfortunately, while Sims' return to the course did help Koepka eventually improve by three strokes, it wasn't enough. Perhaps in the future she can watch her husband win like he has done so often in the past.
