Brooks Koepka welcomes Bryson DeChambeau to exclusive champions club after his US Open win

Bryson DeChambeau has emerged victorious in the recently concluded US Open 2024. The third Major of the year was played at Pinehurst No. 2 in Pinehurst, North Carolina from June 13 to 16, 2024.

Bryson DeChambeau won the US Open for the second time. It was also his second Major victory. The LIV golfer won his first Major also at the US Open in 2020. He won over Matthew Wolff by a margin of six strokes at Winged Foot.

After the win, five-time Major winner Brooks Koepka welcomed him to the exclusive champions club of players to win the US Open twice. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Koepka wrote:

"Welcome to the club 2x @usopengolf champ @b_dechambeau."

Brooks Koepka won the US Open twice in 2017 and 2018. In 2017, Koepka won by four strokes over Hideki Matsuyama and Brian Harman. In 2018, Koepka trumped Tommy Fleetwood by one stroke in Shinnecock Hills.

DeChambeau won the prize money of $4.3 million and was exempted from the next 10 US Open tournaments. He also got exempted from the other three Majors for the next five years.

There are 17 golfers to win the US Open twice. They include Lee Trevino, Payne Stewart, Ernie Els, and Retief Goosen.

Willie Anderson, Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, and Jack Nicklaus have won the US Open the most times i.e., with four victories each. Hale Irwin and Tiger Woods have won the tournament thrice.

Bryson DeChambeau also joins another elite champions club with his second U.S. Open win

Bryson DeChambeau has also become the fourth golfer to win two US Opens and a US Amateur. Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods have already achieved the feat.

Bobby Jones has won the US Open four times and the US Amateur five times. Jack Nicklaus has won the US Open four times and US Amateur two times. Tiger Woods has won both the US Open and the US Amateur three times.

DeChambeau won the US Amateur in 2015 and two US Open in the years, 2020 and 2024.

The years in which Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and Bryson DeChambeau won the US Amateur are as follows:

  • Bobby Jones: 1924, 1925, 1927, 1928, 1930
  • Jack Nicklaus: 1959, 1961
