Bryson DeChambeau recently made a surprising observation comparing Tour courses to public courses. He said that public surfaces are more difficult to hit than Tour ones.

DeChambeau, a nine-time PGA Tour winner who now plays on the LIV Golf circuit, has won twice there. He is also one of the most popular golfers currently and a well-known YouTuber.

In one of his recent videos, Bryson DeChambeau was in a Delray Beach Golf Club in Florida and tried to break the course record. In his observation, he remarked that public courses are more challenging to play on than Tour surfaces.

"It's like hitting off of, you know, just dirt and sand," he said. "It's brutal. You gotta pick it literally perfectly. So technically, you guys are way better than me. But in all seriousness, the type of control you have to have to hit great shots out here is probably more satisfying because of the level of precision."
"Out on a Tour golf course, you can kind of mishit it or hit it in the rough and still have a good lie. You can then hit that shot and be totally fine. Out here, it's really dodgy. It's sitting on the ground, it's spotty and whatnot. That's just what happens. That's a public golf course, and that's totally okay. That's why this type of golf is so cool," he added.

When will Bryson DeChambeau return to action?

Bryson DeChambeau was last seen at the LIV vs. PGA Tour Showdown, where he and Brooks Koepka suffered a brutal defeat against Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler. He is now on a two-month break before returning to action with LIV Golf's new season.

DeChambeau will start his season with LIV Golf Riyadh in February, the first event of the fourth season of the Saudi-backed circuit. This LIV season was underwhelming for him as he failed to secure a single win, unlike in 2023, where he won twice. Nevertheless, he achieved seven top-ten finishes and placed eighth in the individual standings.

Speaking of the majors, DeChambeau was one of the best players this year and the top performer among LIV Golf professionals. He tied for sixth at the Masters Tournament after holding the lead at one point. He then made a runner-up finish at the PGA Championship, where he also had a lead during the week. His drought ended at the US Open, where he defeated McIlroy by a one-stroke margin.
