Bryson DeChambeau won the recently concluded 124th US Open at Pinehurst No.2 in Pinehurst, North Carolina, on Sunday. He won the prize money of $4.3 million and earned an exemption from future Major championships.

After his US Open win, Bryson DeChambeau didn't head out to celebrate but rather stayed back late at night at Pinehurst. In a recent podcast with Pat McAfee and AJ Hawk in the Pat McAfee Show, he was asked why he stayed up late at night at Pinehurst and if it was pre-planned. DeChambeau said (via The Pat McAfee Show):

"It just all happened. The fans were still out there waiting for me, they were shutting down the whole golf course shuttles, we were leaving the golf course, and so were the fans. I think a couple of fans might have gotten stuck, I don't know." (8:04-8:25)

He further said he was interacting with fans and signing autographs till midnight at Pinehurst. He revealed:

"But I was probably around 12-12:30 because we had to catch a flight around 12:30, and then back at where I was staying. (8:25-8:39)

He said that he returned to the neighborhood where he was staying but all the fans gathered there to celebrate his victory. DeChambeau signed a few more autographs over there and left for his flight around 12.30.

Bryson DeChambeau carded rounds of 67, 69, 67, and 71 in the 72 holes at Pinehurst. It was a nail-biting finish on the final day at Pinehurst as Rory Mcllroy was leading by two strokes. However, Mcllroy missed two putts under four feet on the 16th and 18th hole to lose by one stroke.

"The fans were all a part of that win. Throughout the whole week, they were cheering me on, they were pushing me, they were encouraging me, giving me all the stuff I needed to win. And so I thought what better moment for me to just go out and show the fans all the respect that they deserve for pushing me to win this title." (0:40-1:03)
