Bryson DeChambeau hits Scottie Scheffler’s dad with an errant tee shot at The Showdown

Bryson DeChambeau recently hit Scottie Scheffler's father Scott with an errant tee shot at The Showdown. The 18-hole event took place at Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas on Tuesday, December 17.

The event held between top PGA Tour stars and LIV Golf stars was an easy win for Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, who won all three stages of the event. The duo took the lead on the very first hole and went 1 up. However, on the second hole, Scheffler's father was hit by DeChambeau's wayward drive, as per on-course reporter Bubba Watson.

Yahoo Sports reported that Scott Scheffler wasn't affected by the incident. The PGA Tour duo of Scottie Scheffler and McIlroy won the first stage of fourball by three shots with two holes remaining and won the foursomes by 1 Up.

In the final stage, McIlroy faced DeChambeau while Scheffler competed against Brooks Koepka. McIlroy was 1 Up after four holes while Scheffler was 2 Up with two holes remaining.

Crypto.com sponsored the Showdown and the winners, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy won $10 million in cryptocurrency. The event was created by Bryan Zuriff, who also produced The Match series. This year NHL legend Wayne Gretzky won the Match by 2 Up against Michael Phelps at West Palm Beach in Florida.

Rory McIlroy says he and Scottie "got off to a really good start" at The Showdown

The Showdown was played at the Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event started at 6 pm ET and was weather was cold with a slight breeze. Talking about the event and the first stage, McIlroy said (via Golfweek):

"It got cold pretty quickly, but obviously Scottie and I got off to a really good start, and then from there it was just about trying to keep the momentum."
