Bryson DeChambeau revealed on Christmas Day 2024 that he will be one of the world golf stars to appear in Happy Gilmore 2. The long-awaited movie will be released in 2025, although the exact date is yet to be announced.

DeChambeau broke the news in a post on Instagram, which included several photos from the filming process. The two-time major champion accompanied the post with the following text:

"What an experience…HAPPY GILMORE 2 coming to Netflix in 2025"

Earlier in the day, Happy Gilmore 2 star Adam Sandler posted the first trailer for the Netflix-produced film on social media. The trailer features both Sandler himself as Gilmore and Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin.

Happy Gilmore 2 will be released in 2025, almost 30 years after its prequel (1996). Recently, Adam Sandler stated that the intention is for the movie to be released in July. This is what he said (via The Hollywood Reporter):

"I don’t know 100 percent, but I think around July. Not July 4th, but we’re trying to get it done in time for July."

Happy Gilmore is a cult movie among golf fans. It follows the life of a former hockey player transitioning to golf and his sporting and personal confrontation with rival McGavin. The film won an MTV Award in 1996 and was nominated for several other awards.

Happy Gilmore 2 will reportedly follow Gilmore and McGavin now on the Senior tour. Although almost 30 years have passed, much of the original cast will return for the sequel.

In addition to Sandler (as Gilmore) and McDonald (as McGavin), Julie Bowen (as Virginia Venit), Allen Covert (as Otto), Dennis Dugan (as Doug Thompson) and Ben Stiller (as Hal) will return.

But it is the new additions to the cast that have fans excited. In joining Bryson DeChambeau, the film will feature cameos from many of the world's golf stars, including several legends such as Jack Nicklaus and Lee Trevino.

Recently, Jordan Spieth revealed some of the names called out by Sandler. This was part of what he said (via Bunkered):

"When I was up there it was like Lee [Trevino], Jack [Nicklaus], Freddie [Couples], Corey [Pavin]. In our scene next to me was Rickie [Fowler], Collin [Morikawa], Xander [Schauffele] and Keegan [Bradley]."

Months earlier, it was reported that John Daly would also be in the movie. Many fans on social media asked for Tiger Woods and Paige Spiranac to be included, but this was never confirmed.

It is already known that other non-golf stars will also appear in Happy Gilmore 2. These include National Football League (NFL) player Travis Kelce and musicians Eminem and Bad Bunny.
