Byeong Hun An has shared his reaction by replying to a tweet by FD Degenerates host Kenny Kim talking about PGA Tour professional Collin Morikawa's struggle in the last three years to win a tournament. After turning pro in 2019, Morikawa has won seven professional tournaments, including six on the PGA Tour. He has also secured two Major championships. However, he has been seeking a victory on the Tour since his last win at the 2023 Zozo Championship.
On January 26, Kim shared a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account comparing Morikawa's performance in the last three years with professional golfers, including Sepp Straka and Nick Taylor. He wrote:
"Collin Morikawa has 1 win in the last 3+ years. One. Win. 40 months. Nick Taylor and Straka have 3 wins each in that same time period. Horschel has 4 world wide wins in that time period. Same amount of wins as Patrick Reed, Davis Riley and Brice Garnett. Is Kawa overrated?"
An came forward in support of Morikawa, highlighting his two Major titles. He wrote:
"No. Two majors under his belt. Definitely not overrated."
Collin Morikawa won the 2020 PGA Championship after defeating Dustin Johnson and Paul Casey by two strokes. In 2021, he won The Open Championship by registering a two-shot win over Jordan Spieth.
Collin Morikawa narrowly misses winning The Sentry 2025
Morikawa started his 2025 PGA Tour campaign at The Sentry in Hawaii and came close to winning the title. However, he finished second while Hideki Matsuyama won the tournament.
Morikawa showcased phenomenal performances at The Sentry. In the limited-player field, he began his campaign with a solid round of 66 on the first day before playing a second round of 65. He scored 62 on the third day and finished with a final round of 67, ending with an impressive score of 32-under.
Matsuyama, however, secured the victory with a score of 35-under after four rounds, claiming the season-opening event on the PGA Tour.
During the press conference of the tournament on January 5, Collin Morikawa reflected on his performance, stating (via ASAP Sports):
"It's tough to win, and I've seen it over this kind of past year, and like I said, I love being in this position, this is a position you want to be in, I want to keep giving myself chances, I know they're going to come, just when Zozo happened you just know if you keep knocking at the door and, you know, we're going to go on a roll pretty soon, it's just hopefully sooner rather than later."
Last season, the American also came very close to winning on the PGA Tour but settled for second place twice. He was the runner-up at the Memorial Tournament and the Tour Championship.
