Byeong Hun An has stirred up a controversy in the 2024 Presidents Cup, involving American player Wyndham Clark. The issue arose from a post on X (formerly Twitter) by the Korean critcisizing the American.
The post was subsequently deleted by Byeong Hun An, but X users posted a screenshot of what the he had written:
"You always have a guy in your group, who doesn't do s**t, but talk s**t all day"
Hours later, Byeong Hun An deleted his post and posted an apology, saying he wanted to be a 'better person.'
"I’m deleting my tweet. My apologies. I want to be a better person than that".
The situation arose in the four-ball session on Saturday morning, the third day of competition at the Presidents Cup. Wyndham Clark and Keegan Bradley lost 4&3 to Si Woo Kim and Tom Kim, with the former holing the winning putt on the 15th hole.
At the time, Si Woo Kim celebrated his victory by making the 'go to sleep' gesture often used by NBA star Stephen Curry.
In the afternoon of the same day, Si Woo Kim and Tom Kim teamed up again for a foursomes match against Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele. This time it was the Internationals' turn to watch how the Americans sensationally beat them on the 18th hole, with Cantlay making the crucial putt.
Wyndham Clark, who did not play in the afternoon, watched from the edge of the green. When Cantlay and Schauffele won, he celebrated in the same way as Si Woo Kim in the morning, sparking Byeong Hun An's controversial post.
