Charlie Woods showcased an impressive game at the 2024 PNC Championship which concluded yesterday. However, the 15-year-old has some time to go before he can compete professionally on the PGA Tour.
To be eligible to compete as a professional on the PGA Tour, a player must be at least 18 years old. As Woods is currently 15, he can only join the professional circuit in 2027.
Woods has participated in the PNC Championship several times, delivering remarkable performances. He was the runner-up in 2021 and again finished second in 2024.
Although Charlie Woods needs a few more years to compete professionally on the PGA Tour, he attempted to secure a spot to play on the American circuit earlier this year as an amateur. He participated in the Q-School to qualify for the Cognizant Classic but struggled in the qualifiers, failing to make it to the field.
Meanwhile, Woods has been enjoying a promising amateur career. In July earlier this year, he secured a spot at the US Junior Amateur.
Charlie Woods achieves his first hole-in-one
One of the most remarkable moments of Charlie Woods' career came during the 2024 PNC Championship when he made his first-ever hole-in-one. In the second round of the tournament on December 22, the 15-year-old hit a stunning shot from 175 yards on the par-3 fourth hole at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club. The ball went straight into the hole, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Woods expressed excitement about achieving the rare feat during the post-round press conference.
"It was awesome having dad there. That was so much fun. It was just a perfect 7-iron, little cut in there. Of course never got to see it go in. So that sucks. But that's all right," Charlie Woods said.
Tiger Woods also spoke about his son's ace in the tournament:
"We heard it up on the green on the right and left but we were totally unsure until the TV confirmed it. And we went nuts. I don't know what we did but we enjoyed it. It was an unbelievable moment. That two-hole stretch, that was his first eagle he ever made out there on 3, and then his first hole-in-one."
At the 2024 PNC Championship, Team Woods began its campaign on Saturday, December 21, shooting six birdies on the front nine. It added seven birdies on the back nine to shoot an impressive round of 13-under 59.
In the second round, Team Woods continued its excellent form, shooting 15-under 57 with 13 birdies and an eagle, tying for the lead with Team Langer at 28-under.
In the playoff, however, Team Langer secured the victory by making an eagle on the 18th hole, while Team Woods could only manage a birdie, finishing in second place.
