The latest edition of the Tiger Woods-hosted Hero World Challenge is set to tee off on Thursday, December 5. The event at the Albany Golf Course in the Bahamas features a stacked 20-player field. This edition of the competition will have seven golfers making their event debuts, including Ludvig Aberg.
The Swedish golfer is among the top favorites to win the $1,000,000 champion’s paycheck from the event’s $5,000,000 prize purse. As per the odds list, the event’s reigning champion and World No.1 Scottie Scheffler is the favorite to defend his title. Meanwhile, Aberg sits second with 10-1 odds, according to SportsLine.
The World No.5 golfer, highest-ranked player on the event field after No.1 Scheffler, shares the position with Justin Thomas.
It is pertinent to note that Aberg comes into the Hero World Challenge weekend on the back of an unsuccessful RSM Classic title defense at Sea Island. The 25-year-old notched an easy top-20 finish after a rocky start. This was the Swedish golfer’s 13th top-20 finish from 20 starts this season on the PGA Tour.
While he failed to register a win this year, Aberg managed runner-up finishes at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the BMW Championship, and The Masters.
