NBA legend Charles Barkley has challenged Michael Phelps and J.J. Watt to a golf face-off. He recently took a jibe at Phelps, stating that his trash-talking would make the swimming legend 'fold like a chair.'
Charles Barkley was recently on the Gravy & The Sleeze podcast, hosted by Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz. During the podcast, the former basketball star-turned-analyst challenged swimming legend Phelps and former NFL defensive player JJ Watt to a golf match.
Barkley said his game was better than J.J. Watt's and host Colt Knost's but mentioned that Phelps was doing well. However, he had a strategy ready for the multiple Olympic gold medalist.
"You know, he ain't used to no trash talk on the golf course," he said. "He takes his game too serious. When I start trash talking him, he's gonna fold like a chair. So I'm back in Arizona. Let's get this thing set up, brother. Let's get it set up."
Charles Barkley shares his Masters 2025 pick
Recently, Charles Barkley did a '34 Questions' interview with Golf Digest. During the interview, the former NBA star was asked about his Masters picks, where he placed his bet on Max Homa, snubbing the defending champion and World No. 1, Scottie Scheffler.
Barkley choosing Homa is an interesting take, considering Scheffler has been in scintillating form. This year, he claimed the Green Jacket, beating Ludvig Åberg by a whopping four strokes.
Speaking of the early favorites, the World No. 1 is once again the tournament favorite, and rightly so after the season he had. For the uninitiated, he won seven titles on the PGA Tour this season. Additionally, he won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics and also claimed the unofficial Hero World Challenge title.
Looking at other favorites, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Ludvig Åberg, and Xander Schauffele fill the top five spots. As for Max Homa, he is not even in the top 10 favorites for the first Major of the season.
