“Charles is the best”: Tiger Woods’ ex-coach praises Charles Barkley’s hosting skills

Tiger Woods' ex-coach Hank Haney has praised the former NBA star Charles Barkley's skills as a broadcaster. Haney recently posted on X that plenty of people aren't enthusiastic about the new golf league TGL. A fan replied to it and said they are excited to watch TGL but believe the golf would get repetitive, and if Barkley turns out to be one of the announcers for the event, it would not go well.

However, Haney had opposite views as he believed Barkley could make anything interesting that's not.

"That’s a problem isn’t it, there’s one announcer that can make something interesting that’s not, Charles is the best. A lot of these special events bank on players showing their personalities and they don’t but hopefully this will be different," he said about Charles Barkley.

Charles Barkley is a former NBA player and an analyst with the TNT and CBS. He was also inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2020-21.

However, Charles is not part of the TGL in any capacity yet. The new golf league has Scott Van Pelt as the host, Matt Barrie for play-by-play, and Marty Smith as the reporter. Apart from that, Jahmai Webster will be the digital host with Claire Rogers. Roger Steele will be the in-venue emcee and Irie as the DJ. Derrick Stafford will be the referee, and Mark Russell will be the rules official.

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are the founders of the league and are also part of the league as players. Apart from them, the league also features other prominent PGA Tour golfers like Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, and others.

The TGL is all set to begin on January 7th at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The six teams competing in this event are Atlanta Drive GC, Boston Common Golf, Jupiter Links GC, Los Angeles Golf Club, New York Golf Club, and The Bay Golf Club.
