Charley Hull shares her embarrassing moment at the Solheim Cup, laughing at herself: “I thought they said my name”

Charley Hull encountered an embarrassing moment at the 2024 Solheim Cup. The golf team event started its Day 1 matches on Friday, September 13, and the USA team took the early lead on their home soil. However, from the European side, the English golfer grabbed the fans' attention.

The LPGA Tour has recently uploaded a video of the 28-year-old golfer laughing off after having an embarrassing moment when the announcer was introducing the European team.

Hull did not hear the name and waved hands with fellow teammate Linn Grant. But next, it was Hull who was called by the announcer, and she finally realized she had mistaken her teammate's name for her own. She laughed it off, saying:

“Oh I thought they said my name!”

On Day 1 of the Solheim Cup, it was a slow start for the European team, the defending champions. They could only score two points against the USA team's six points.

Charley Hull competed in both fourball and foursome matches on Day 1, but unfortunately, she struggled with her game and lost both of the matches. In the foursome, Hull was joined by Esther Henseleit, but they were defeated by Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz by 3 and 2.

In the fourball, Hull and Linn Grant teamed up to play against Andrea Lee and Rose Zhang but again suffered a loss by 5 and 4.

Charley Hull spotted smoking during the 2024 Solheim Cup

Hull has been in the headlines throughout this season because of her smoking habit during tournaments. She was again spotted smoking a dart during a practice round of the 2024 Solheim Cup ahead of its start.

A video of the English golfer went viral on the internet. In the clip, Hull takes a lighter from a fan and smokes while practicing at Robert Trent Jones in Virginia.

For the second day of the Solheim Cup, Charley Hull will again team up with Esther Henseleit for the Saturday morning Foursome matches. They will compete against Ally Ewing and Jennifer Kupcho of the USA team.
