The MLB World Series is underway, and golf superstars are also sharing their excitement as fans. Collin Morikawa is the latest name to catch the baseball fever. The star golfer shared a childhood picture of himself wearing a Los Angeles Dodgers jersey, stating that it was the only team to root for.
Morikawa last competed at the Zozo Championship, his first start since his runner-up finish in the FedEx Cup. However, he was unable to defend his title at Narashino Country Club and finished T54 at 3-under.
On Monday, October 27, the PGA Tour shared Morikawa's childhood photograph in a Dodgers jersey. The golfer reposted the picture on his story, announcing his support for the team in their Monday night game.
"There's only one team to root for in the World Series @dodgers," he wrote.
Morikawa’s support didn’t go in vain, as the Dodgers continued their dominance in the World Series over the New York Yankees. They secured their third consecutive win against the Yankees, beating them 4-2.
The Dodgers are now just one win away from a World Series sweep, while the Yankees must win the next game to stay in contention.
"It’s been great watching the Dodgers play in Japan" - Collin Morikawa on watching the MLB World Series from different time zone
Last week, Collin Morikawa was in Tokyo, Japan, for the Zozo Championship. While competing in the golf event, he had the new experience of watching the MLB World Series in the early morning.
"It's been great watching the Dodgers play in Japan, in Tokyo. It was nice because they had it on TV. You wake up in the morning and it’s on,” Morikawa said on Wednesday, October 27 (via Golfweek).
Besides Morikawa, Max Homa, another golfer who is a huge Dodgers fan, spoke about the experience of watching baseball from a different time zone.
"I would be lying if I said I wish I wasn’t home a little bit so I could go to the game, or a game, but yeah, it’s neat to be here. I’m hopeful to see some more L.A. hats. And yeah, it’s been great, the run they’ve been on, it’s been very fun to watch," Homa said.
Game 4 of the World Series will take place on Tuesday, October 29.
