Lee Westwood feels that LIV Golf and the PGA Tour should unite for the sake of the fans. He recently stated that fans were the only losers in the current situation.

Westwood, one of the captains of LIV Golf's Majesticks GC, is in Newport, Rhode Island, this week for his US Senior Open debut. The third senior Major championship of the season is set to take place from Thursday, June 27 to Sunday, June 30 at Newport Golf Club in Rhode Island.

Speaking at the press conference ahead of the US Senior Open, Lee Westwood called for the unification of the two rival circuits.

"No matter what the level of golf is, I think if the best players at every level don’t come together & play, there’s only one loser & that’s the fans watching," he said. "We need to somehow figure a way to get the best players playing against each other more often."

Most of the fans online echoed Westwood's sentiments, but a few of them also had diverging opinions. Here's a look at some of the reactions:

"Decisions have consequences Lee," one fan wrote.
"Close down LIV," another fan wrote.
"I agree with Westwood's comments. And if he and others hadn't left the tour for LIV, fans would actually have all these players competing against each other more often. Something to think about," another fan posted.
"This line of thinking is really gaining ground. I hope they can come to some agreement very soon," this fan commented.
"Then tell Greg to step down. He’s not helping the situation @ all. He doesn’t give a crap about what the fans want. He’s ALL about $$ and he constantly shows that," one user opined.
"I’m a fan and I don’t feel like I’m missing out. The PGAT and the other 20 or so eligible tours that are part of the OWGR are plenty. They all play the same format golf and the new names like Pavon and Aberg and Dunlap and others are helping me forget about the LIV money grabbers," one fan wrote.

When will Lee Westwood tee off at the US Senior Open?

Lee Westwood is grouped with Miguel Angel Jiménez and Jerry Kelly for the first two rounds of the US Senior Open Championship. The trio will tee off from the first hole on Thursday, June 27 at 8:24 am ET.

The 51-year-old Englishman qualified for the US Senior Open as he was part of the 2021 Ryder Cup squad. This will be his debut at the senior Major championship.

Besides Lee Westwood, Richard Bland is another LIV Golf professional to have qualified for the US Senior Open. He earned the exemption after his win at the Kitchen Aid Senior PGA Championship last month.
