Bryson DeChambeau has been one of the most entertaining golfers in recent times, but he was a bit uncharacteristic during the Showdown. On Tuesday, December 17, he took out his earpiece in between the exhibition event.
DeChambeau and Koepka were in action at Shadow Creek Golf Club in the first-ever LIV x PGA Tour Showdown. The LIV duo were up against PGA Tour's Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler.
An X user named PGA/LIV Hot Takes reported that the two-time US Open champion removed his earpiece as he was having a disappointing day on the golf course.
DeChambeau's performance was unremarkable as he struggled with his putting throughout the day. He and Koepka managed to win only one hole in the entire match.
The PGA Tour team featuring Scheffler and McIlroy started brilliantly, winning the first two holes to set the tone of the match. They remained undefeated in the fourball session, tying the third hole and winning the fourth to secure the first point for their team. On the par-5 4th hole, Bryson DeChambeau missed a three-foot putt for an eagle, clearly highlighting his lack of match practice.
In the foursomes session, DeChambeau and Koepka tried to put up a fight, winning their first hole on the 11th. However, the PGA Tour duo proved too strong, winning two holes and tying the other three to claim the second point.
In the final session, the PGA Tour team won two holes and halved two, sealing the victory on the 16th hole.
"It felt like it was a pillow fight from us," DeChambeau said, as per BBC.
What's next for Bryson DeChambeau?
Bryson DeChambeau will next compete at the LIV Golf Riyadh in February, marking the start of the fourth season of the Saudi-backed circuit.
DeChambeau didn’t have a particularly fruitful season on the LIV Golf tour, as he failed to secure a single title. However, he did achieve seven top-10 finishes this year and ended the season ranked eighth in the standings.
When it came to the Majors, the 31-year-old golfer had a remarkable season. He won the US Open and finished as the runner-up at the PGA Championship. Additionally, he tied for sixth at the Masters Tournament. Interestingly, he held the lead at some point in all three Majors.
The two-time Major champion also ventured into YouTube and garnered significant viewership. His Break 50 series amassed millions of views, especially the Donald Trump episode which received more than 13 million views.
