On Sunday, January 5, Hideki Matsuyama posted an 8-under 65 to secure a three-shot win at the Sentry 2025 over Collin Morikawa. This week's win helped him break into the top 5 of the OWGR for the first time since February 2018.

Matsuyama began the final day at Kapalua with a one-stroke lead at 27-under after 54 holes. He recorded seven birdies, one eagle, and a bogey in his final round to earn his third win in ten months. Besides, his aggregate score of 35-under is the lowest ever on the PGA Tour.

Matsuyama entered the Kapalua Plantation Course ranked 6th. Last season, he won two titles that helped him break into the top 10 and then inside the top 10 of the OWGR. This week, he moved to fifth place after his successful run at the Sentry 2025.
