After scoring a bogey-free 8-under 62, Thomas was on the top of the leaderboard after the first round at the Genesis Scottish Open. However, things didn't go well for him in the second round as he scored 2-over 72.

Thomas started on the back nine and scored two bogeys on the 12th and 15th holes and a birdie on the 18th hole. On the front nine, he scored a birdie on the 3rd hole but faltered on the 8th hole where he scored a double bogey. Justin Thomas's aggregate score after 36 holes was 6-under 134

The 31-year-old made the cutline with 3 strokes as the cutline settled at -3. However, he slipped from the top of the leaderboard to T24. He is tied on the position with Adam Hadwin, Romain Langasque, Cam Davis, Victor Perez, Brian Harman, Brendon Todd, Justin Thomas, Ryan Fox, Connor Syme, Erik van Rooyen, Daniel Brown, Xander Schauffele, and Tommy Fleetwood.

Ludvig Aberg is on the top of the leaderboard after another 6-under 64 in the second round and is followed by Antoine Rozner, one stroke behind. Thomas has an uphill task in the third round as he trails Aberg by six strokes. The winner of the tournament will take away $1,575,000 of the $9 million prize money.

Thomas will tee off at 8:04 a.m. with Brendon Todd on Saturday, July 13.
