Sahith Theegala shot 3-under 67 in the second round of the Sentry 2024 and aggregated at 1-under. However, he couldn't make it to the weekend after missing the cutline, which was 2-under.
Theegala began the PGA Tour 2024 season well as he finished runner-up at the Sentry last week and missed the playoff by just one stroke. However, unlike Kirk, he couldn't continue his form this week.
The second round was still better than the 72 he posted on the first day. Overall, Theegala could hit just 10 fairways, which included just three in the second round. He finished joint 140th among the 144 players in terms of driving accuracy.
Austin Eckroat, Byeong-Hun An, and Carl Yuan took the joint one-stroke lead after 36 holes at Waialae Country Club. Yuan, who was able to save his PGA Tour card only because of Jon Rahm's suspension, shot 65 in the second round to aggregate at 9-under. He was joined by Ben An, who shot a bogey-free 64, and birthday boy Eckroat, who fired a 66.
Ben Griffin, who began the Sony Open week with a 70, jumped 64 spots to T4 after shooting a low 62 with the help of seven birdies and an eagle. His lone bogey came on the par-3, 11th hole.
Day 1 leader Cam Davis slipped to fourth after posting an even-par 70 on Friday. He was joined by Keith Mitchell, Taylor Montgomery, Kurt Kitayama, Chris Kirk, Grayson Murray, Stephan Jaeger, Matthieu Pavon, and Stewart Cink for a nine-way tie in the fourth.
