Does The Sentry 2025 have a cut? Format explored

At the end of the two-day play at the Sentry 2025, Hideki Matsuyama took a 36-hole lead after shooting a bogey-free 65. He has a one-stroke lead over Collin Morikawa, who aggregated 15-under after shooting 65 on Friday, January 3.

Davis Riley carded an 80 in the second round of the Sentry 2025 and was in last position after 36 holes. However, despite this, he is not going to exit the tournament and still has two more rounds to play. Unlike traditional PGA Tour tournaments, the Kapalua event doesn't have a 36-hole cut.

A couple of years ago, the PGA Tour introduced the concept of Signature events with a massive purse of $20 million. Starting last season, the Tour made five of these eight Signature events 'no-cut.' This means that these five tournaments, including the Sentry 2025, have no 36-hole cut, and the field size is reduced to 72 players or fewer.

The Sentry 2025, the first Signature event of the year, has a 60-player field, including the top 50 ranked players in the FedEx Cup 2024 season, Aon Next 10, and the winners from last season. Further, no player will go empty-handed after four days of play here.
