Doey Choi, a pillion passenger, was on a motorbike with her boyfriend William Brown, 26, when a Toyota Corolla allegedly turned at the intersection of the Hume Highway and Worth Street, Greenacre. The duo were thrown metres across the road. Despite the efforts of paramedics, they didn't survive.

Brown and Choi were riding in a convoy of 40 motorcyclists to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair in inner Sydney. The family of Doey has released a statement via WPGA Tour of Australasia. It read:

"Our family is heartbroken beyond belief. Doey brought light and joy into our lives with her radiant smile and bubbly personality. Her presence was a blessing to all who knew her.
"We are deeply grateful for the support we have received from friends and the wider golfing community during this incredibly difficult time. Doey will be forever in our hearts and sorely missed."

NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Brett McFadden said that both the drivers of the motorcycle and car weren't legally allowed to be on the road. Brown shouldn't have been carrying a passenger because of his provisional rider status while the car driver was driving on a suspended license.

Golf Australia issued a statement and said:

"Golf Australia is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Australian representative golfer Doey Choi. Doey was a tremendous player and highly valued member of the golf community, who will be remembered for her bright personality and incredible talent."
