Donald Trump's new golf course named after his mother, Mary Anne MacLeod Trump, the MacLeod Course is coming up in Aberdeen, Scotland. The golf course will be the second layout in the Trump International Golf Links near Balmedie, Scotland, and is set to open to players in 2025. The MacLeod course is positioned near the south and west of the original 2012 Hawtree course.

Golf Course Architecture reported that the golf course would feature the world's largest course bunker and infinity greens. Currently, the world's biggest bunker can be found on the seventh hole at the Pine Valley Golf Club in Clementon, New Jersey.

Martin Hawtree, the leading course designer of MacLeod's Course, said the course will feature two distinct nine-hole loops that go out and back. He said (via Trump Golf Scotland),

"All 18 holes thread their way engagingly through the dunes, rising here to find views of the sea and coastline, plunging there into secluded valleys, offering a sequence of superlative topographies, landscapes, alternating between spaciousness and enclosure, then panoramic view, and the whole time a rich texture of vegetation and wildlife habitats surrounding the golf holes."

Hawtree added the golf course would "lack nothing." The layout would have no weak holes and will be the most "dramatic, stimulating, invigorating stretch of golf" he has ever seen.

The MacLeod course covers a large area of rough coastal land and will have scenic views of the North Sea. The course layout has also incorporated some ancient burns.

Executive Vice President of Trump International, Sarah Malone said (via Golf Course Architecture),

"Since breaking ground with President Trump and Eric Trump last spring, we have made extraordinary progress. This course is unlike any other links course ever built and is exceeding every expectation. There are very few great stretches of developable links land in the world as good as this."

Malone added the architects and engineers have worked tirelessly to shape the land and the course could become "one of golf's greatest wonders."

John Daly and Paul McGinley all praise for Donald Trump's new golf course

The newly built MacLeod Course spans sandy dunes, heathlands, and wide-ranging wetlands. Legends Tour players were invited to Donald Trump's new course during the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship.

PGA Tour veteran John Daly said (via Golf Course Architecture),

"Trump Aberdeen’s new course is one of the most spectacular links courses you are ever going to find in the world! It’s beautiful!"

Irish professional golfer Paul McGinley said,

"I have no doubt that the addition of this new golf course will provide not just a great golfing exam but also an aesthetic one with views of the North Sea from most holes. It is great to see such huge investment in the North East of Scotland to add to what already is an historic golfing destination."

The original course is a par-72 course at 7400 yards. It hosted the 2024 Staysure PGA Seniors Championship. The tournament was played from July 31 to August 4. English player Robert Coles won the tournament by one stroke over Scotland's Paul Lawrie.

The course has come under scrutiny from locals due to environmental concerns.
