Ugo Coussaud hit a tremendous hole-in-one at the Andalucia Masters and reaped in some interesting awards from it. Aside from being rewarded with a stellar score on that hole and a little bit of fame for his shot, he was also given his body weight in Estrella Damm beer. The beer brand is the sponsor of the tournament.
He holed in his shot on the eighth hole at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande during Thursday's first round of the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucia Masters. There does not appear to be a video of the epic shot, but Coussaud was rewarded for his shot.
Estrella Damm sent him multiple cases of beer to celebrate, though his time at the event may not be for long. Despite his impressive shot, the golfer is still just tied for 95th.
In the second round, he is three over. For the tournament, he's one over par. That's 16 shots behind current leader Jorge Campillo. He looks unlikely to make the cut unless he can turn it around in the next 13 holes today.
Jules Guerrier shoots "Playstation nine" at Andalucia Masters
Ugo Coussaud isn't the only person who did something supremely impressive at the Andalucia Masters. During the first round, Jules Guerrier shot an impressive front nine and called it a "PlayStation Nine." He made birdies on nine of his first 11 en route to an impressive opening round. He also had no bogeys in the first round at all.
He said (via ESPN),
"I had the feeling I played the PlayStation on the front nine, it was very nice. Of course, it was really nice, but I tried try to stay focused for 18 holes because we know with this wind anything can happen."
He continued, noting that he had to manage his emotions during that onslaught of birdies:
"When you are playing like that and everything goes your way, you take everything and it was a great feeling, of course. It looks easy from the outside but it's very tough to stay in the present. Sometimes the emotion is too high and you try to calm down a little bit, but at the same time you try to enjoy it as well, so it's a good balance."
He was among the leaders, though current leader Jorge Campillo has overtaken the top spot in the second round. Guerrier is currently tied with Scott Jamieson, Jordan Smith, and Daniel Brown, at 10 under, five shots behind the leader. This is the final tournament on European soil for the DP World Tour this year.
