Xander Schauffele recently gave his honest take on the eventful 2024 Presidents Cup held at The Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Quebec. On the final day, 29 September, Schauffele won his Sunday Singles match. The US team also won its 12th Presidents Cup against the International team with a margin of 18.5 - 11.5.

In the post-tournament press conference, Schauffele was asked if he could describe the feeling at an event like the Presidents Cup. He said:

"Sure, yeah. Last night was something else. That was a pretty big moment. It felt big, and it was special. It was in the dark. It was everything that -- drama in golf that we can get into one. It was cool to be a part of that bit."

He further praised the fans and said:

"Yeah, the fans this week have been incredible. I think they were working our first day, and then I think they had Friday off and the rest of the weekend off, and there's been a lot more people out here and it's been a lot louder, so we appreciate them."

Schauffele was the first on the course on the tournament's final day. He played against the International team's Jason Day. About going first, he said, via ASAP Sports:

"Yeah, Cap (Captain Jim Furyk) told me that I was going to come out and lead the charge, and I told him it was an honor to do that, and my job was to get red up there early. We have some really, really good players on this team, and it was an honor for me to go first and try and get that first point."

Day started well and took the lead on the second hole with a birdie and went 1 Up.

However, the 30-year-old American tied the scores on the par-4 third and made a strong comeback with four consecutive birdies on the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th holes to go 4 Up. He won the match on the 15th hole with a score of 4 & 3.
