Dustin Johnson played down Phil Mickelson while picking LIV golfers for a possible 1v1 matchup winner. The Saudi Circuit players are gearing up to start the fourth season of the LIV Golf series pretty soon.
Ahead of that, LIV Golf dropped an interesting video featuring 4Aces GC captain Dustin Johnson. In the clip, the American golfer was asked to pick one among two LIV Golfers he believed could win a one-on-one possible matchup.
The first was to pick between Sergio Garcia and Tyrrell Hatton. Johnson picked Hatton. Next, it was Hatton versus Phil Mickelson, to which the former Masters winner dropped Mickelson and picked Hatton.
The next option was Hatton versus Brooks Koepka, and Johnson went ahead with Koepka before again picking the five-time Major winner against Bryson DeChambeau. Next, he was given the option between Koepka and Patrick Reed, to which Johnson picked his 4Aces GC teammate Reed and dropped Brooks.
Then, Johnson picked between Cam Smith and Reed, and again, Johnson stuck to the side of his teammate. Finally, he was asked to pick between Reed and Dustin Johnson himself. The American golfer confidently picked himself.
Check out the amazing video below:
Notably, Johnson was among the top-ranked golfers who joined LIV Golf when it started. The two-time Major winner has been phenomenal with his game in the series and was the individual champion of its first season.
Johnson even had a memorable season in 2024, where he won the LIV Golf Las Vegas event and recorded some decent finishes, including T5 at the Mayakoba event and T7 at the LIV Golf Singapore event.
Dustin Johnson ditches Pat Perez from 4Aces ahead of 2025 LIV Golf season
As the new LIV Golf season is around the corner, officials have been preparing to complete their rosters for the 2025 edition of the series. Recently, Dustin Johnson's team, 4Aces GC, announced the exit of Pat Perez from the team.
Only the top 24 golfers in the LIV Golf standings at the end of the regular season secured their spots for the next season, while the remaining could be reassigned or dropped by the team. Moving ahead, Dustin Johnson's 4Aces decided to part ways with Perez.
"FOREVER A 4ACE! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING, PAT PEREZ," 4 Aces wrote on X about Perez.
Notably, 4Aces had already signed Thomas Pieters to their team for the upcoming season. Speaking of the new player joining his team, Johnson said, via mirror.co.uk:
"Happy to have Thomas on the team. He's a great addition, and a great player and makes the team stronger. Really excited for next season."
Notably, Pat Perez even struggled in the 2023 season, but Dustin Johnson renewed his contract for the 2024 season. However, the American golfer struggled with his game last season and was ultimately eliminated from the team ahead of the 2025 season.
