Scottish golfer Ewen Ferguson opened up about Tyrrell Hatton's game ahead of the finale of the 2025 Hero Dubai Desert Classic. This week, the DP World Tour players are competing at the ongoing event in Dubai, which will have its finale on Sunday, January 19.
Daniel Hillier took the lead in the game at 13-under after three rounds, followed by Tyrrell Hatton, who settled in second place, while Ferguson finished in third. All of them are in contention to win the title.
During the press conference of the tournament on January 18, Ferguson reflected on Hatton's performance and shared his strategy for the finale. Speaking of the LIV golfer, Ferguson said (via ASAP Sports):
"I'll just stick to my wee game. I'll just do my own wee thing and Tyrrell probably is the man to beat, let's be honest. He's a bit of a superstar. Pressure doesn't seem to bother him too much. He's got the full package in his golf game. But at the same time for me it's not all about winning the tournament.
"I said before, like getting in these positions is sometimes a win on its own, and this is a step towards kind of doing things like this more regularly. And learning to play tomorrow with someone as high class as Tyrrell will be something that even if I play awful, is still going to have me in really good stead going forward," he added.
Hatton will tee off for the final round just one stroke behind the third-round leader, while Ferguson will tee off three shots behind the leader. Ryan Fox tied for fourth place with Laurie Canter followed by Calum Hill tied for sixth place with Tom McKibbin, Dylan Frittelli, and Shaun Norris. Rory McIlroy is also playing this week and tied for 12th after three rounds.
Tyrrell Hatton opens up about his performance in Dubai
Hatton has been impressive with his game this week at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. He started with a tough round of 71 before carding 65 in the second round and 68 in the third round.
During the third round, Hatton opened up about his performance, saying (via ASAP Sports):
"It would mean a lot. I remember as a kid, waking up early in the morning on Thursday and Friday and being excited to watch the Desert Classic. As you said, it's an iconic event on the DP World Tour, and I think it's certainly one of those events that you could probably ask any player out here, and it's one that they would love to have on their C.V. I'll go out there tomorrow and give it my absolute best, which is all I can do, and see how we go tomorrow."
Notably, it is the first event of the year for Tyrrell Hatton. Last year, he also played in the tournament and tied for the T31 position after playing four rounds of 74, 68, 71, and 73. The English golfer currently plays on the LIV Golf. However, the Saudi league is set to start its fourth season in February in Saudi Arabia.
