Ex-LIV Golf star Laurie Canter dubs it ‘privilege’ to play with ‘legends’ on DP World Tour’s Team Cup

British professional golfer Laurie Canter is currently in Dubai to compete in the DP World Tour's Dubai Desert Classic. However, before Canter could arrive to compete in this tournament, he was spotted playing for Team Great Britain and Ireland at the Team Cup 2025. The tournament was eventful as Canter and GB&I ended up beating Continental Europe at the Team Cup.

In a press conference at the Emirates Golf Club after Round 2 of the Dubai Desert Classic, Laurie Canter was asked about his performance at the Team Cup. Speaking on the entire experience, he said:

"I just found it inspiring. Like I think it was really inspiring, and more so than I thought. I thought it might just be a couple of teams playing match play. But it was so much more than that. Like all the stuff we got from the legends and being around captains and hearing their kind of genuine experiences about you want to play in the Ryder Cup now. Obviously, the Team Cup is a version of that, where everyone is trying to get to grips with that process. I felt like it was massively inspiring and a privilege to be around some of the legends."

Further, in his response, Laurie Canter said being around legends at the Team Cup made him fall in love with golf again. The ex-LIV Golf professional added that he hadn't felt that way since playing amateur golf.
