In a recent interview with the X (formerly Twitter) account 'Flushing It,' former LIV Golf player Eugenio Chacarra expressed his ambition to play on the PGA Tour. He drew a comparison between his own career trajectory and that of Ludvig Aberg.
After the 2024 season, Chacarra was released by Sergio Garcia, captain of LIV Golf's Fireballs GC team. As he told Flushing It (@flushingitgolf), his goal now is to play on the PGA Tour as soon as possible.
This was part of what Chacarra, 24, said:
"I’m a winner and I was never treated like a winner. On the PGA Tour, Ludvig Aberg has one win and I have one win on LIV. He has one win on the European Tour and I have one win on the International Series on the Asian Tour. So we have very similar careers... we have performed similar. What tours I can play on, I have won."
He added:
"I want to make sure I’m doing the right thing to get myself on to the Korn Ferry or PGA Tour as soon as possible."
Chacarra is currently suspended from the PGA Tour. His ban, which began after his final LIV Golf appearance, is set to expire in September 2025.
A look at the careers of Eugenio Chacarra and Ludvig Aberg
Eugenio Chacarra began his professional career in 2022, joining LIV Golf right after college at Oklahoma State University. During his amateur career, he secured several major victories and was ranked as high as number two in the world amateur rankings.
In LIV Golf, Chacarra played 32 individual events with one victory and two top 10s. During the same period, he played 18 events outside of LIV Golf, mostly on the Asian Tour, with one victory (2023 St. Andrews Bay Championship, International Series) and four top 10s.
His performance in major championships includes only one appearance, the 2024 US Open, where he missed the cut.
In the case of Ludvig Aberg, he began his professional career in June 2023 after graduating from Texas Tech University. He also had a distinguished amateur career and was ranked number one in the world in that category.
As a professional, Aberg has one PGA Tour victory (2023 RSM Classic) and 13 other top-10 finishes, including four runner-up finishes. He also has one victory on the DP World Tour (Omega European Masters).
Aberg made his major championship debut with a tie for second at the 2024 Masters Tournament. He made the cut at the PGA Championship, tied for 12th at the US Open and also made the cut at the Open Championship.
The Swede has already participated in his first Ryder Cup (2023), where he achieved victory with the European team.
