Captain Jim Furyk of the United States Presidents Cup team has not yet spoken to Tiger Woods about a possible role, but he's planning to. Woods famously turned down any role with the Ryder Cup team for 2025, but Furyk intends to discuss a possible role with him for the Presidents Cup.

Furyk said of Woods via Golfweek:

“I’ll reach out to Tiger. I think we all kind of expected that he was going to be named Ryder Cup captain and when that didn't happen, I know he's got his plate full with the PGA Tour and working on our board, which seems to be a lot of work at the moment."

Despite that, Furyk plans to touch base with Woods. He said that the legendary golfer has a great strategy and has done well with pairings. As of now, though, he hasn't yet spoken with Woods about anything.

It's unclear whether Furyk wants to officially get Woods on the roster in some way or if he just wants to get some insights. The Presidents Cup is at the end of the month, so there's still time to figure out a way for the golfer to contribute.

Jim Furyk praises Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley

Keegan Bradley was named the 2025 Ryder Cup captain for the US after Tiger Woods reportedly declined ahead of the offer. He cited a busy workload with the PGA Tour Policy Board, and eventually, Bradley was named captain.

Furyk said that he may use Bradley as a vice-captain, though he knows that Bradley wants to play and could do so based on his qualification. A win at the BMW Championship last week certainly helped his case, pushing him to number 10 in the point standings.

After being named Ryder Cup captain, Jim Furyk reached out to Bradley.

"I said to him then, ‘First and foremost I know you’re a player and you want to make these teams and I know how much they mean to you,’" Furyk said (per Golfweek).

Furyk detailed that Bradley said regardless, he's excited to be an assistant captain and will use the experience to help him when he captains the Ryder Cup. Bradley loves being on these teams and is ready to go in any capacity.

"I told him, ‘When we’re in discussion and talking about picks we’re not going to talk about you in front of you, that’s not fair.’ He’s been great. He’s made my job easy," Jim Furyk added.

The Presidents Cup is similar to the Ryder Cup in that it pits American golfers against an international team, though this time it's not Europe. Bradley will be a part of the team in one way or another, gaining valuable experience for the 2025 Ryder Cup in New York.
