The second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs is set to kick off with the 2024 BMW Championship. The second of three events will take place from Thursday, August 22, to Sunday, August 25, at Castle Pines Golf Club in Denver, Colorado.

The top 50 players on the FedExCup standings will compete in Denver to get inside the top 30, who move on to East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, for the Tour Championship.

Since only the top 30 players will qualify for the third and final event of the FedEx Cup Playoff, several players will need a strong finish at the BMW Championship to get inside the safe zone. Among the players at risk of exiting after the second leg is Olympic silver medalist Tommy Fleetwood who finished in the top 10 FedEx rankings last year and is currently positioned 31st.

Fleetwood has had a decent 2024 season with three top-10 finishes and nine top-25 finishes on the PGA Tour. He will need at least a 48th-place finish with at least one other player to qualify for the Tour Championship.

Stephan Jaeger won the 2024 Texas Children's Houston Open earlier this year but still ended up outside the top 30 on the standings. He has had only three top-10 finishes this season and missed seven cuts in his 21 appearances, currently positioned 35th on the rankings. He will need at least a 25th-place finish with at least one other player to qualify for the season's final event.

Nick Dunlap who won the American Express tournament and Barracuda Championship this year is still positioned 48th on the standings. He'll need a solo 11th finish at the BMW Championship to advance to the Tour Championship.

Chris Kirk who won the Sentry at the beginning of the year has struggled throughout since. He made only one other top-10 finish this season and is positioned 32nd. He must finish 42nd with one other player to make it to the Tour Championship.

Austin Eckroat who won the 2024 Cognizant Classic finds himself 38th on the standings. A solo 24th finish at Castle Pines Golf Club will help him advance to East Lake Golf Club. Other such notable names include Cameron Young and Cam Davis.
