Anthony Kim has been candid about his struggles since returning to professional golf. He's opened up about the mental health challenges he faced during his time away from the sport, even admitting to drug addiction and the negative influences he encountered.

The American golfer has continued to discuss his struggles on X (formerly Twitter). In a recent post on July 28, he shared more details about his experiences.

"When I was younger used to B in rooms w lots of people but felt alone & empty. These days when I’m by myself in the AM I feel motivated, content & gr8ful 4 all the blessings I took 4 granted b4. Good #mentalhealth requires making changes 1%better!!! @excrgolf #girldad #gratitude," he wrote.

A week earlier, Kim shared another message about his struggles with addiction. Here's what he wrote:

"Learned in rehab 2 hit the reset button by remembering to have #gratitude 4 everything we take 4 granted like having time w our loved ones, a hot meal, even our morning coffee. It took almost losing my life 2 realize this but gr8ful I’m still here @excrgolf #girldad #mentalhealth"

Kim returned to professional golf after a 12-year absence thanks to a wild card for the 2024 LIV Golf season. Shortly after joining the league, he featured in an interview in which he discussed his life experiences during that time.

During the interview, Kim, then 39, spoke about his struggles with drug addiction that nearly cost him his life. He also credited his current wife and family for their instrumental role in his recovery and rediscovery of his passion for golf.

Kim's professional golf career spanned from 2006 to 2012, primarily on the PGA Tour. He achieved three victories at the highest level and secured top-10 finishes in three major championships, including a third-place tie at the 2010 Masters. Notably, he also represented the United States in the 2008 Ryder Cup, contributing 2.5 points in four matches to the team's victory at Valhalla Golf Club.

Anthony Kim's return to professional golf

Kim's return to professional golf came with the 2024 LIV Golf Jeddah event last March. He secured a wildcard entry from the Greg Norman-led league.

Kim has participated in 10 LIV Golf events so far, withdrawing after the second round in Adelaide. His best finish was a tie for 36th at the Greenbrier less than two weeks ago.

In the final event of the LIV Golf regular season, Kim recorded his best 54-hole score of the year, finishing 6-under par. Prior to this, he had yet to finish under par in any event, although it is worth noting that his score in Nashville was even par.

Nevertheless, Kim displayed some impressive rounds throughout the season. He shot a 5-under par during the third round in Hong Kong and again during the third round at the Greenbrier. Additionally, he posted a 3-under par score during the second round in Nashville.
