The Hero World Challenge is the final competition on the PGA Tour for the 2024 season, though it is an unofficial event that doesn't count for any FedEx Cup points. It features a limited field, more limited even than Signature Events, in an effort to bring the Tour's best together for one weekend.
Ahead of the matchup, the full, official field has finally been revealed. Last month, the initial field was revealed with a few open spots for sponsor exemptions. Now, all slots are filled and finalized.
Scottie Scheffler and Nick Dunlap, who was an amateur this time last year, headline the field. They're joined by:
- Ludvig Aberg
- Wyndham Clark
- Sahith Theegala
- Keegan Bradley
- Russell Henley
- Sam Burns
- Robert MacIntyre
- Brian Harman
- Sungjae Im
- Tom Kim
- Aaron Rai
- Matthiew Pavon
- Akshay Bhatia
- Cameron Young
- Justin Thomas
- Sepp Straka
- Jason Day
In total, there are 20 players in the field for the Hero World Challenge hosted by Tiger Woods. He, however, is not among them. He made his return to golf following last year's ankle surgery at this very event, but he's not playing the 2024 version.
He took to social media a few days ago to confirm it via Golfweek:
“I am disappointed that I will not be able to compete this year at the Hero World Challenge, but always look forward to being tournament host."
Woods had had microdecompression surgery on his lower back in September and is still recovering from that.
