Former PGA Tour player Smylie Kaufman spoke this week about how he thought Scottie Scheffler would be held back by the demands of new parenthood. On the most recent podcast episode of The Smylie Show, the American professional golfer, who is also known for his sports commentary, was talking with Jessica Korda.

In the podcast, he and LPGA Tour player Korda, who has been enjoying motherhood away from the greens these days, talked about parenthood. Kaufman talked about Scottie Scheffler and said he thought the World No. 1 would find one aspect of parenthood challenging, which didn't turn out to be the case at all.

Speaking of Scheffler's dad duties, Kaufman said:

"Charlie and I were debating this about...what's going to stop Scottie Scheffler this year. And we're like, 'You know what it's going to be? It's going to be the "dad back." It goes out twice a year for new dads, and that's what we thought was going to go out for Scottie Scheffler. But turns out, he also was pretty good at engaging his hamstrings and not lifting with his back."

Scottie Scheffler welcomed his baby Bennett with his wife Meredith in May 2024. The year has been memorable for the American as he welcomed his baby and also won nine tournaments.

Scottie Scheffler welcomed his child Bennett on May 8, 2024, and since then, his son has often been spotted on the greens with the golfer's wife Meredith. Speaking in September this year, Scheffler opened up about how becoming a dad has changed his life in recent times.

He opened up on fatherhood on the "Pardon My Take" podcast, saying (via Southern Living):

"When you get home... It's one thing for your parents and Meredith and everybody to say that they don't care what you shoot, but at the end of the day, it means a lot to me. But when you get home and you see Bennett and he just sees you walk through the door and he's like 'hey man, what's up?' you truly do just forget about everything else. It's pretty amazing.”

Scottie Scheffler enjoyed the most successful season of his career so far, in 2024. He won a Major, a gold medal in the Olympics, The Players Championship, Tour Championship, and was also part of the winning team at the Presidents Cup.

He has won nine individual golf tournaments so far in 2024. He won seven tournaments on the PGA Tour and also won Olympic gold at the 2024 Paris Games. He recently defended his title at the 2024 Hero World Challenge, an unofficial PGA Tour event, marking his ninth win of the year.

Meanwhile, on the PGA Tour, he won the Arnold Palmer Invitational, The Players Championship, the Masters, the RBC Heritage, The Memorial Tournament, the Travelers Championship, and the Tour Championship.
