Matthieu Pavon will represent the home team, France, in golf at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Pavon will be in familiar conditions this week and look to secure a medal for his country at Le Golf National, the venue for the golf event.

The 31-year-old will presumably be under immense pressure this week as there are a lot of expectations from the French golfer given his form in 2024. Pavon claimed winning a gold medal would rank higher than a Major win for him ahead of the Summer Games.

"After a few days at the Olympic Village, the opening ceremony in Paris with all these crowds in front of the Eiffel Tower and all the great moments we've had the last few days, it really feels like a gold medal would be now ranked higher than a major for me," Pavon said (via Olympic Golf on X).

Major championships are the most prestigious events in golf, however, Pavon has his sights set on a medal at the home Games.

How has Matthieu Pavon performed in 2024?

Matthieu Pavon has had an exceptional year so far. He won the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open in January. He has competed in 16 events this year and has made 12 cuts with 4 top-10 finishes.

Pavon registered commendable performances in the Major championships as well. The French golfer finished T12 at the Masters, missed the cut at the PGA Championship, finished 5th at the US Open, and T50 at the Open Championship.

This season has been one of the best for Pavon, and he will fancy his chances to win a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. But it will not be straightforward as the field has prominent names like Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, and Xander Schauffele, to name a few.
