Ripper GC emerged as the latest winner at the LIV Golf Team Championship in Dallas. The Cameron Smith-led team beat Dustin Johnson's 4Aces and Kevin Na's Iron Heads by a 3-stroke margin.
On Sunday, September 22, Ripper GC, 4Aces GC, Iron Heads GC, and Legion XIII entered the Maridoe Golf Club in contention for the Team Championship title. Although all thirteen teams competed at the event, the remaining nine teams were divided into two tiers and fought for spots 5 to 13.
Captain Smith emerged as the team's best player and shot 4-under 68 to lead Ripper GC to its maiden Team Championship title.
Fans online congratulated Ripper GC for winning the Team Championship. Here's a look at some of the reactions to LIV Golf's announcement on X:
"@AlboMP give us a public holiday!" one fan wrote.
"What a joke. Gonna miss all these awesome events for the remainder of the year," another fan wrote.
"Rippers going down in history as one of the greatest wins of all time," this fan remarked.
"I'm a casual fan who doesn't listen to the CGM. LIV Golf played on tougher courses than the PGA. Trump Doral, Greenbrier, etc. LIV Golf has been great. Casual golf fans don't care about any PGA events except the Ryder Cup and majors," this fan opined.
"Go the Aussies, I think it helps the team format when there is a real connection! The Adelaide playoff was equally as good! Australia v South Africa!" one fan commented.
"That was probably the best golf I've ever seen. Congrats, LIV, you nailed it!" one fan wrote.
"To be a part of this is unreal," Cameron Smith reflects on winning the LIV Golf Team Championship
Speaking at the winner's press conference, Cameron Smith termed the LIV Golf Team Championship win "unreal". He added that following the leaderboard was stressful.
"I almost wanted to take my eye off it, but I couldn't," he said. "I was so intrigued with what we had to do. Yeah, so proud."
"There was something in me that was going to tell me that the boys were going to come through. The Gladiator, the last four of the five holes, pretty unbelievable. Really cool stuff. I mean, to be a part of this is unreal, especially with these guys," he added.
In Tier 1, the Legion XIII finished fourth in the standings. Here's the leaderboard of the remaining teams:
