"Glad I'm done," – Ludvig Aberg breathes a sigh of relief after brutal day at Farmers Insurance Open

Ludvig Aberg breathed a sigh of relief after a brutal second round at the Farmers Insurance Open. The second round of the 73rd edition of the PGA Tour tournament was held at the Torrey Pines South Course in La Jolla, California on Thursday, January 24.

The Swedish player carded a splendid 9-under 63 in the first round, where he notched seven birdies and an eagle against a bogey. However, he faltered with 3-over 75 in the second round. The 25-year-old managed two birdies against three bogeys and a double bogey on Thursday.

When asked about how he would take the second round, Aberg said (via Tee Scripts):

"Glad I'm done, number one. It was hard, it was good. We knew it was going to be hard coming in. Obviously the South course is pretty hard even when you play it in 75 and no wind at all. Adding some 30-mile-an-hour gusts and sustained 15, it makes it pretty difficult. Felt like we hung in there quite well and gave ourselves a chance over the weekend.

Aberg tied for ninth at the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open. He had scored 68, 72, 69 and 70 in the four rounds of the tournament, finishing 9-under 279 at the same course. When asked where the round ranked among the hardest rounds he has experienced in the recent past, he said:

"It's got to be up there for sure. I don't remember the last time it was that hard to get close to the pins. The greens were hard and they were tricky, but I'm proud of the way I fought and looking forward to the next couple days."

However, Ludvig Aberg wasn't alone who had a rough second round at the Farmers Insurance Open. Only Jason Day, Jackson Suber and Chris Gotterup managed their rounds in the 60s. All other golfers teeing up scored in 70s or higher.
