John Daly has some key advice for golf beginners. The two-time Major champion believes that youngsters should focus more on chipping and putting.
Daly is one of the most popular golfers and currently competes on the Senior Tour. He has won 19 professional titles in his career, including two Major championships.
A couple of years ago, Daly appeared as a guest on the Full Send Podcast, hosted by Kyle Forgeard and his team. During the podcast, he shared valuable tips for young golfers.
"For all you beginners out there, chip and putt," Daly said in the podcast. "Everybody on tour can hit a driver or a 5 iron, but it's 150 yards and in that means a lot. No guy that wins a golf tournament ever talks about the wedge they hit close out of the rough, they all want to talk about the drive they hit to get them there, but golf is all about 150 yards and in."
Where will John Daly play next?
John Daly is set to compete at the 2024 PNC Championship, scheduled from Thursday, December 19 to Sunday, December 22, at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Grande Lakes. He will partner his son, John Daly II, for another edition of the event.
Team Daly won the PNC Championship in 2021, recording the event's lowest aggregate score of 27-under 117 to defeat Tiger Woods and Charlie Woods by two strokes. The following year, they finished as runners-up and tied for fifth in 2023.
Speaking of the season, Daly played 16 events on the PGA Tour Champions but failed to secure a single top-10 finish. His best result was a T22 finish at the American Family Insurance Championship. He also participated in the PGA Championship and the Open Championship via exemptions but withdrew from both events after playing the first round.
